Crusades V.S. September 11

On September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacked the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington. They succeeded and crashed in to the Twin Towers but did not crash the Pentagon. When President Bush used the word “Crusade” to explain the havoc and chaos that was going on, he was wrong. This statement caused many people to be worried and outraged. The Crusades were wars fought between the Muslims and the Catholics for a place called Palestine. This place was Jesus was buried and it was important to both religious groups. It was a bad idea to call it a crusade because it was a religious war and not an attack for material things. When Bush said that it was a reminder of what had happened back in the biblical days. They used to say that when there was a crusade you had to fight. If you did not fight you would be condemned but if you had fought in the Crusades you would be honored in heaven. So when the Muslims heard that there was a crusade it meant that they had to go fight again. In the original Crusade it was the Catholics V.S. the Muslims and Bush compared that to what has happened that day. This was very a wrong thing to say Bush should have studied more on his Global History.

A gladiator had a hard life. They were forces to fight for their life. They fought against animal and against each other. Gladiators were slaves, criminals and Christians. They had to be the last man standing. If a gladiator would fall with the opponent over them, the crowed would vote if the gladiator should kill him. A thumb up meant that the gladiator would kill the man that fell and if the crowed put a thumbs down that meant that the fallen gladiator would live. The gladiator fights were made to make people forget about the problems that were going on. Today in the United States there is a sport that is very similar to those in Rome. It is called wrestling. Although they don’t fight with animals, they do fight with each other. When Wrestle-mania is on we forget about the problems and focus on who will be taken down or first to bleed. This is our gladiators. The ring is our arena and the wrestles are our gladiators. We are entertained by blood shed. We are not than the Romans. As they cheered for the people to kill each other, we cheered for the wrestlers to hurt each other. We are no better than the Romans.

Rome Vs United State..... Which has a better life?

The Romans and the Americans are not that different when it comes to state problems. Roman government covered up what really happened with gifts and holidays. The Romans used free gladiator games to take peoples minds off of the poverty. They also declared 150 Days of celebration, so people can't be unhappy during a holiday. The United States are supposed to be civilized people and honest. But aren't we doing the same as the Romans. People invented things like the television and Sports that ween people off the real issues today. While the lottery goes up so does the poverty levels. 50% of Americas money belongs to One percent of the population. The rich, which most likely is the politicians and government workers are making most of the money and the average people are getting left out. Prices of living have risen ten fold, before you could buy things for a nickel, now not even a dollar is worth much. Our government has hidden the fact that there is more money problems than before and the fact that they don't want to give up there way of living, to give to the poor. Today we have many things issues that still need to be worked out, but with the public distracted with paying the bills that no one takes a stand. That will probably also cost a lot of money to keep the lawyers fighting for that cause.  Rome and the United States are alike when it comes to the government and cover ups.

Geography in Ancient Greece

The seas in Ancient Greece were helpful for traveling and trading. It was also good because people in Greece became good sailors. The land was uneven and rough. There were many mountains. Mountains covered ¾ of the land and divided the country into regions and made it difficult for traveling for city states. The climate in ancient Greece was varied from about 48 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.

Describe why Ancient Greece was divided into city states ?
